In the fortnight gone by, the Web Spiders team was busy working on a number of projects. Among others, we developed and deployed an interactive eLearning courseware on Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Crisis Management for one of the elite national banks in the Asia-Pacific region. The eLearning courseware is intended to educate as well as increase the awareness levels of the employees of the banking organization.
To provide an engaging learning experience, the instructional content - divided into 10 learning topics - was delivered through a story set in the future. Various scenarios were created which simulated real-life situations, woven within the overarching storyline. These make-believe scenarios incorporated elements of survival making the learning process interesting and educative at the same time. Strategic points of the courseware presents learners with real-life scenarios where they have to take decisions. These decision points impart the actual learning. Besides, there are reinforcement exercises at the end of each learning topic to gauge learner understanding of the individual topic.
The story is aided by varied forms of media: text and illustrations, videos and animations, audio and special sound effects. The project uses both 2D and 3D graphics.
This interactive eLearning courseware has been developed using the Adobe Flash Builder 4, Actionscript 3.0 development toolset and XML data, so that it can run smoothly in the Adobe Flash Player version 10 onwards.
