Twitter launches its first application for Android 2.1. The code in the app will soon be open-sourced by Google.

Twitter for Android app has a share button in your favorite apps for sharing links and images via Twitter. It is easy to read Tweets in some places on your phone. You can get a quick access to your timeline with the home screen widget and view a tweet map location or check your friend's latest tweet on your phonebook and GoogleTalk any application that uses Android's QuickContact bar.
