#DigitalIndia, the core initiative behind the #DigitalIndiaWeek event launched by the Government of India, aims at transforming the nation into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. As a technology service provider of enterprise mobility, enterprise content management and digital marketing services to Government to Citizen (G2C) organisations across a Smart Nation like Singapore, WS Group (Web Spiders) is proud to be associated with this technological revolution.
The entire WS Group family watched the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji's address to the nation via Live webcast on July 1. There was considerable excitement as he launched MyGov, the official mobile app for the event, as it showcased the government's focus on mobility and it's place in a growing India. WS Group has already provided mobile apps to G2C organizations like Singapore Civil Defence Force and Public Utilities Board Singapore to help citizens and government officials reach relevant departments quickly.WS Group presently provides technology and digital media services to ministries and G2C organisations in Singapore, such as Science Centre Singapore, Singapore.sg, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Singapore Polytechnic, and the Ministry of Defence.
On the final day of #DigitalIndiaWeek, Siddharth Jhunjhunwala, CEO of WS Group, addressed all his colleagues in person and via live video link to other global offices, reminiscing how WS came into being in 1997, and was incorporated in 2000. He shared his memories regarding how in 1995 the whole revolution began with the launch of both the Internet and mobile phones in the country. Globally it was also a milestone year for the software industry with the launch of Windows 95.
He compared WS' journey as well as India's journey in the same timeline, and gave examples of how India is now leading as a consumer of digital and not just a supplier of digital capabilities.
WS Group Vice President Satarupa Sen delivered the end note, focusing on the ways the #DigitalIndia initiative is likely to affect the lives of citizens across the country in the coming days.
