Apps to make you 'appy: Adobe AIR on your desktop

Developers and designers love handy tools that simplify everyday tasks. Complicated softwares with multiple features are a drag on system resources, and take time to swing into action. Small, fast-loading applications that do the job are much more effective.A number of useful tools and utilities based on Adobe AIR (a cross-platform runtime environment for Rich Internet/ Desktop applications) are coming up lately. They are well designed, useful for a variety of frequent tasks, and can help you save a lot of time. Check out this selection of free Adobe AIR apps that can do wonders for your productivity:• Doomi - It is a simple to-do-list app that lets you quickly reorganize your to-dos via drag and drop. The best part is that it does not require you to open your browser to view your list! You can just create, edit, set reminders, and keep archives of your old tasks. You can also set how long it should take to complete the task and mark the box next to it when it's complete.• TweetDeck - Tweetdeck allows you update your Twitter and Facebook accounts. This app helps you manage multiple social accounts at the same time. You can also check your follower updates, replies, and direct messages while using it.• Ora Time and Expense - This software is a task timer for tracking timesheet activities as you go. You can add tasks, input expenses, and track your time apart from generating timesheets, expense sheets and invoices. The app's timer will help you determine how much work you have done and how much money you have made. Bonus - You can use your webcam to scan expense receipts for automatic inclusion in expense reports.• Think - Another simple yet highly useful app, Think allows you to jot down mental notes in a simple Twitter-like input box. This note remains with you for future reference and viewing and you can add to your thoughts later on. The one minor hiccup is that you have to update your thoughts using your mouse (or Shift+Enter); pressing Enter will just take you to the next line.• File Furnace - A desktop utility that helps you get rid of the files and folders you no longer need. File Furnace is a unique and interesting app that displays a simple image of a fire. A message over the app says "Drop unwanted files here". You can drag and drop files into the fire (it is also accompanied by the sound of crackling fire). These files are deleted permanently and using File Furnace is faster than using the Recycle Bin.Of course, this list is just a sample (and a tiny one at that).
