We are looking for a hands-on Technical Manager / Engineering Manager to drive the architecture, development, and evolution of AI-powered digital products and platforms.

This is not a traditional project management role.

You will be responsible for technical decision-making, product-quality ownership, and team leadership, while remaining close enough to the code to build, integrate, experiment, and unblock teams when needed.

The work includes building a platform for events, spanning web & mobile apps, AI-driven workflows, conversational/voice AI, automation, and digital collateral systems. This product has the potential to be an asymmetric bet—with viral adoption if UX, reliability, and speed are executed exceptionally well.

What You’ll Do

Technical & Product Leadership

  • Own the technical vision and execution for AI-first products and platforms.
  • Translate product ideas and user pain points into clean architectures, scalable systems, and intuitive user experiences.
  • Act as a tech + product thought partner to founders and stakeholders—not just an executor.
  • Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, and scalability.

Hands-On Engineering & AI Integration

  • Remain hands-on when required—writing code, building integrations, reviewing PRs, or prototyping solutions.
  • Lead implementation of AI and LLM-driven features, including:
    • Chat-based and agentic workflows
    • Voice / phone AI and conversational interfaces
    • Automation, content generation, and intelligent orchestration
  • Rapidly learn new tools, SDKs, APIs, and AI frameworks as the product evolves.
  • Guide the team in applying strong JavaScript engineering practices across frontend and backend systems.

Team Leadership & Quality Ownership

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a small, high-quality engineering team, including developers and QA.
  • Set a very high bar for UX, reliability, performance, and “common sense” execution.
  • Work closely with QA (minimum 2 strong QA resources) to ensure test coverage, release readiness, and production confidence.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, fast iteration, and continuous improvement.

Architecture, Platform & Delivery

  • Design and evolve systems across:
    • Modern JS stacks (React, Vue, Angular, Node)
    • Backend frameworks (PHP, Laravel, APIs)
    • CMS and platforms (Drupal, WordPress, Shopify, Magento)
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure and deployment on AWS / Azure.
  • Ensure platforms are secure, scalable, and maintainable as usage grows.
  • Anticipate future requirements and design systems that won’t block innovation.

Collaboration & Execution

  • Work closely with product, design, sales, and external partners to align vision with execution.
  • Participate in solutioning for RFPs, technical estimates, and architecture discussions.
  • Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders while maintaining engineering depth.

What We’re Looking For

Core Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, or Engineering Manager.
  • Strong hands-on background in web & application development, with depth in:
    • JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Node)
    • Backend systems (PHP, Laravel, APIs)
    • CMS / eCommerce platforms (Drupal, Shopify, Magento)
  • Proven experience delivering complex digital products, not just client websites.

AI & Modern Engineering

  • Practical experience working with AI / LLM-based systems (integration, orchestration, or delivery ownership).
  • Comfort with AI APIs, prompt-driven systems, automation pipelines, and experimentation.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new AI paradigms and tooling.

Leadership & Mindset

  • Comfortable leading from the front—designing, coding, reviewing, and mentoring.
  • Strong product thinking with an obsession for UX, clarity, and simplicity.
  • Ability to move fast in ambiguity and still deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and prioritization skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with voice AI, phone bots, or conversational agents.
  • Cloud experience with AWS / Azure.
  • Exposure to Agile and hybrid SDLC models (used pragmatically, not dogmatically).
  • Prior experience in product startups, early-stage platforms, or high-growth teams.
